Old but still works: Perl MSN Messenger Module
04/26/09 at 15:02:31

I had to dig around the the decaying ruins of a once great bot development community and found some old code for signing on a bot to MSN Messenger.

This code works. Edit the echobot.pl script in a text editor and plug in your bot's e-mail and password, and your (the owner's) email address. When it signs on it should send you a message. It'll echo anything you say to it.

It will require the module Crypt::SSLeay. You can get this on Windows by doing "ppm install http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/Crypt-SSLeay.ppd" in the command prompt. Otherwise you're on your own there.

If you get an error message telling you to check your firewall, then Crypt::SSLeay is NOT installed. Go install it.

Teario is working on a new MSN module it seems, but this old code from 2005/06 or so still signs on bots, so I'm uploading it here to keep it from fading into obscurity again.
